If you’re travelling in a Cabin for Two, ask your VIA Rail attendant whether the lower berth can remain down during the day and be used like a sofa. It creates a cosy place to relax or nap, while the lounges and viewing cars provide plenty of additional seating.

Ways to Save

  • Book well in advance. Sleeper Plus cabins are limited, so booking early gives you more choice of travel dates and accommodation before the most popular departures fill up. Prices also increase closer to the travel date.
  • Travel in winter. Winter departures can offer lower prices than peak summer travel, along with snowy views across Canada’s forests, Prairies and mountains.
  • Consider the shoulder seasons. Spring and fall can provide better value than peak summer dates while still offering plenty of daylight for enjoying the scenery.
